CSR and sustainability
Together we make a difference
Shaping society together, now and in the future: that’s our vision. We start by looking at ourselves. We keep our own impact on people and the environment as small as possible, using our environmental management system and our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives. Additionally, we assist our clients in creating more energy-efficient, environmentally conscious living and working environments.
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
LBP|SIGHT holds the ISO 14001 certificate, the international standard with requirements for environmental management systems. This system allows us to systematically shape our environmental responsibilities. It helps us in enhancing our environmental performance, complying with laws and regulations, and specifying our environmental objectives.
OUR CSR POLICY
1. Our contribution to sustainable development
Beyond our advisory work, we also structure our own business operations to minimise the impact on people and the environment. Therefore, we have analysed which of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we can contribute to as a company. Thus, we work on sustainable development in two ways:
- directly, through measures related to our business operations
- indirectly, through our advice to clients
The SDGs provide a universal agenda for sustainable development. The seventeen global goals aim to end poverty, inequality, and climate change by 2030.
2. Clear focus through concrete goals
For our company, we focus on the following four SDGs:
- Quality Education
- Decent Work and Economic Growth
- Responsible Consumption and Production
- Climate Action
With these four SDGs, we embed sustainability into our strategy and business operations. We focus on themes such as circularity and environmental law, where rethinking and participation are crucial. The translation into concrete actions is documented and ensured in our annual business plan.
3. An ongoing process of further sustainability
Continuing to implement our SDG ambitions, monitoring and adjusting them is an ongoing task. We consistently take steps to increase our positive contribution and to further reduce our negative impact – always in close consultation with stakeholders, including our works council, our partners, and YOUNG LBP|SIGHT.
OUR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs)
4. Quality Education
Goal 4.4 | By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.
We want to make a substantial contribution to the education and development of people both internally and externally, by:
- Annual participation in Girls’ Day
- Guest lectures at primary schools, secondary schools, universities, colleges, and post-HBO education
- Free local support through knowledge contribution, for example at DOMunder and sustainable area development Rijnhuizen
- Guiding and supporting interns and graduates – the continuous internal training of all employees also contributes to this
- Developing knowledge in knowledge groups
8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
Goal 8.5 | By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men, including for young people and persons with disabilities, and equal pay for work of equal value.
We want to encourage people with a disadvantage in the labour market to come and work with us and to help and (financially) facilitate them, by:
- Providing a safe haven to share experiences. For example by giving a platform to new, young employees: YOUNG LBP|SIGHT, a group of young colleagues who organise formal and informal activities.
- Investigating how we can offer more employment opportunities to people with a disadvantage in the labour market – for example via UAF (Stichting voor Vluchteling-Studenten).
12. Responsible Consumption and Production
Goal 12.2 | By 2030, achieve the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
By 2030, we will carry out our advisory services in a climate-neutral manner, by:
- Establishing an OEF (Organisational Environmental Footprint) following our CO₂ footprint
- Circular renovation of our office building
- Developing a CO₂ reduction strategy
- Pricing and compensating our CO₂ emissions
13. Climate Action
Goal 13.3 | Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.
By 2025, as part of our advice we will proactively inform our clients on minimising the environmental impact thereof and its contribution to the circular ambitions of the Netherlands, by:
- Including a circular/‘green’ alternative in our advice.
- And in addition, to start offering specially targeted advisory services, such as:
- Training ‘Circular Business Design Tracks’ where companies and designers develop a concrete business case
- Developing three products that make circularity measurable:
- Products: PEF (Product Environmental Footprint)
- Buildings: MPG/EPD
- Areas: SEF (Site Environmental Footprint)
- Setting up a platform where everyone in the Netherlands can publish their actual footprint and show their progress.
SUSTAINABILITY IN PRACTICE
As a result of our vision statement – Shaping society together, now and in the future – we help our clients create more energy-efficient, environmentally conscious living and working environments. This vision statement runs like a red thread through all our activities: from noise research to daylight calculation, and from valuation to permit application. In addition, we are happy to support and advise you on specific themes, such as circularity, sustainable materials, sustainable area development, sustainable land issuance, energy, and environment.
Paris Proof Commitment
LBP|SIGHT has signed the Paris Proof Commitment of the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC). Market parties that sign the commitment pledge to reduce energy consumption in the built environment by two-thirds, thereby also reducing the associated CO₂ emissions. Connected organisations are accelerating the sustainability of real estate. They do this by renovating extensively, measuring actual consumption, and mobilising the parties around them.
