Daylight and artificial lighting

Throwing light on your building-physics issues

Daylight affects our mental and physical health. It provides more energy, higher productivity, and a better mood. No surprise that the Building Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Regulations set requirements for daylight admission in homes, schools, childcare centres, and offices, among others. LBP|SIGHT assists you in assessing and improving both daylight and artificial lighting in buildings.

DAYLIGHT IN THE DESIGN PHASE

Those who consider daylight admission during the building design phase are less reliant on artificial lighting. This has advantages in terms of energy savings, but it also has risks regarding heat in a building. Therefore, we advise on the correct daylight admission already during the design phase. For this, we use computer simulations of daylight and artificial lighting, sunning, and shading. If desired, you can also engage us to determine the impact of new construction on the environment. We then look at the effect of a new building on the daylight admission, sunning, and shading of adjacent buildings.

MEASUREMENTS, CALCULATIONS, ASSESSMENTS, AND ADVICE

To determine whether existing buildings comply with the regulations regarding daylight admission, we carry out measurements and calculations. We assess and advise on daylight admission in spaces according to the Building Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Regulations. We also provide advice on visual comfort in spaces.
