Sometimes the standard requirements of building regulations do not provide a solution when it comes to fire safety. A RISK-ORIENTED APPROACH
To determine fire safety, standard regulations are not always applicable. With help of Fire Safety Engineering, we take an integrated approach to risk assessment, looking at building characteristics, material fire behaviour, escape conditions, fire and smoke spread, and the influence of fire protection installations. This allows us to develop a customised solution, even for more complex buildings. It also enables us to determine, for example, whether a smoke and heat extraction system or a sprinkler is needed, or if compliance with the rules can be achieved without these facilities.
By focusing on the risks of a specific building and tailoring measures to the actual risk, we make smart choices and solutions. We work in close consultation with the competent authority and the fire brigade. In this way, we jointly create a design that meets the fire safety regulations. We use various calculation techniques, standards, and guidelines, such as filling time calculations and the NEN 6060 and NEN 6079.
